Johnny Roy - Singer/Guitarist

Guitarist & blues and R&B crooner Johnny Roy, with his former band Jumpstreet and Jack O'Diamonds, has over 20 years of blues experience under his belt, fronting and/or backing up artists such as Johnny Copeland, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson, Son Seals, Jimmy Johnson, Bo Diddley, Roy Buchanan, Lonnie Mack, Koko Taylor, etc.. Johnny humbly acknowledges and realizes that he has learned so much about the blues from the experiences of seeing and hearing these legends perform first hand. Johnny's personal style of singing and stinging blues guitar licks has entertained audiences as far as The Rum Boogie Cafe on Beale Street in Memphis and on the stages of such pretigious blues venues as The Slippery Noodle in Indianapolis. Johnny also holds a Masters Degree in music composition and is an active classical guitarist, renaissance lute player, and college instructor.

Matt Noell - Bass and Vocals

Matt Noell joined The RubTones in the Fall of 2007 after doing extensive tours with Harmonica Red from New Orleans. Matt, who plays a 5-string bass, has also played with Viboflavin, DMT, Patty Butcher Blues Band, and The G-Busy Blues Revue. Matt lays down some excellent bass lines in his own authentic blues style, blends great vocal harmonies with drummer Jim Turner and also sings some lead vocals. We're very happy to have him on board with the RubTones!

Jim Turner - Drums / Backing Vocals

Jim Turner, Rubtones drummer, has been playing blues since about 1990 ...First with Junior Wells guitarist Marty Charters & The Medicine Men, Marty & the Medicine Men also backed up Cincinnati artist H-Bomb Ferguson. Jim has also played with Tom Truly & the Truetones, Jimmy Roberts & The Triple Crown Blues Band, and several years with the Patty Butcher Blues Band along with Johnny Roy.

Sean McLaughlin - Bass / Backing Vocals

RubTones Bassist from early 2003 until Fall of 2007 - Sean McLaughlin has been playing blues, jazz, and roots related music for many years...12 years with Zydeco Bon fronting artists such as, Buckwheat Zydeco, Nathan & The Zydeco Cha Chas, Jo-El Sonnier, Geno Delafose, The Turtles, and Jefferson Starship. Sean has played the W.C.Handy Blues Festival in 93,94,96 in Henderson, Ky...also the Evansville Riverfront Festival, and The Cincinnati Riverfront Chili Festival. Sean studied jazz bass at Morehead state Univ. w/Rusty White , and has also plays blues with the Patty Butcher Blues Band.
